Wood Picket & Privacy Fence Installed in Durham

Last week we installed another arched picket and wooden privacy fence in Durham, NC. The customer contacted me because she had purchased a property in Durham which had a wood picket fence already installed. The existing fence appeared to be over 5yrs old, but was in decent shape. Her issue was that the previous owner had only fenced part of the yard. Because of this, the property owners behind her were taking advantage of using her property for their personal use.

When I arrived at her property to discuss the options available to her for a fence. She showed me where her property markers were, and we discussed the options for a fence. Essentially, she was not so much interested in the privacy of a six foot fence, and already had a picket fence installed. On the property, there was a big tree right in the middle of the back line. There are several ways to attack this issue, and the customer decided she wanted us to “box out” the tree. This option worked best for her situation, and she like the outcome of how it looked when we were finished. This tree would cost way too much money to remove and the best way to work around the tree was to box the fence around it.

The other option was to bring the entire fence line in about 3 feet but the homeowner did not want to lose that much of her property. Having built hundreds of fences without seeing the property first, this is just another shining example of how there is NO situation that we cannot overcome, even though we do not come out to the property first. She saved hundreds of dollars on her fence and saved the cost of tree removal. Often other companies will adamantly tell you that design is more important to an outdoor structure.

We installed the wood fence over a couple of days, installing the posts and setting them in concrete the first day. Then building the rest of the fence the second day.
