EDUCATION is DEDICATION™. Click each area to learn something new today about the history of your town or city. Our business serves:
Local businessmen Washington Duke and Julian S. Carr brought Trinity College to the city of Durham in 1892. This well known school is now called Duke University. The residents of Raleigh offered land now occupied by North Carolina State University and money for a new building which was quickly approved by the Methodist Conference for Trinity College. However, as with all competition, it eventually lost to another bidder.
Burlington Industries, another well known textile and fabric maker at the time, had a facility located in Franklinton...also known as Vamoco Mills. It closed in 1989, and was demolished in 2007.
On February 10, 2008 a wild fire covering practically the same area as a previous one 45 years earlier, though not as widespread, caused severe destruction to the town.
We also serve Sanford, Willow Springs, Lillington, Angier, and other parts of North Carolina. Here are photos of the majority of types of styles that we construct. We are fully insured. We have a low price guarantee and a Lifetime Warranty. Can you go wrong by choosing us?
HOW DID FUQUAY VARINA GET ITS NAME?
Fuquay Springs and Varina had become major trading areas for Wake County, Harnett County, and Johnston County. Advancements in automobiles and roads caused a decline in tourism at the springs. Instead of visiting the springs, people in the area began visiting the coastal areas as travel times decreased. The shared emphasis on agricultural and industrial growth brought the two towns to a mutual vision, and the eventual merger into Fuquay-Varina happened.
Angier is a small town south of Fuquay Varina. Angier has an estimated population of 4,200. Sanford is about 38 miles south west of Fuquay.
Sanford a nearby town to Lillington was named after C.O. Sanford, a railroad civil engineer critical to the building of the rail lines through the area that later became the city of Sanford. Sanford is located in Lee County. Our company, provides the longest warranty in the business against workmanship defects on fences.
DO YOU HATE FUQUAY VARINA GNATS?
Fuquay Varina, Angier, and Holly Springs are very sandy areas of North Carolina. It is also an ideal area to find gnats because of the soft soil. Eye gnats are most prevelant throughout eastern North Carolina and are very common pests in many parts of the United States.
Eye gnats are attracted to humans and most animals. Eye gnats feed on mucous or sebaceous secretions, pus, and blood. This is why you always feel them attacking your eyes and why they are called "eye" gnats. These insects do not pierce the skin, which is why you don't feel them on the rest of your body..
Gnats are extremely annoying and persistent pests. If swatted, more quickly return. Eye gnats do spread disease organisms that cause pink eye. In North Carolina, eye gnats can be extremely annoying in backyards and on golf courses, because of the soil.
Every great town has a devastating fire at some point. Devastating fires occurred along Garnett Street in 1870 and 1885 basically demolishing most of the commercial district structures, because the majority were constructed of wood. Because of the quickly growing population and their need for work, the burned structures were rebuilt within a year each time. The threat of fire was a major factor in the importation of bricks, stone and cast iron into the area.
Though Henderson has historically relied heavily on the tobacco, cotton and textile industries for jobs and economic growth, in recent years the retail market has been one of its major growth sectors. Unfortunately, with the struggling economy, Henderson has been hit hard because of its retail, textile, and tobacco businesses. However, Henderson continues to be an attractive location to businesses, such as our fence company.
OUR JOBS ARE GUARANTEED FOR LIFE
However, some things like rocks cannot be drilled through. On extremely rare occasions there are rocks like these above, hiding beneath the surface. We will discuss your options if something like this were to happen, but if you don't live in the moutains, you probably don't have to worry about something like this!!!
Like most of the other North Carolina cities and towns, the railroad and depot helped cause rapid development. Norfolk and Southern Railroad Company moved families into the area to take care of the railroad. Many of the older homes still there today were built specifically for the railroad workers and their families.
Knightdale became incorporated in 1927. 28 years after the fire that destroyed Apex, in 1940, a fire broke out in the center of Knightdale. The locals arrived to help extinguish the fire, but they were not able to control it until firemen arrived from Raleigh with enough water supply. Many businesses and houses were destroyed, but like all hardworking Americans, the townspeople rebuilt the historic downtown area.
As you may or may not know, the North Carolina Railroad played a key part in the development of North Carolina cities and towns.
More information about the town can be found through the town of Garner's website. Master Halco used to be located in Garner, NC. Master Halco is a supply store that does not deal with the general public. We feel fortunate to have an account with them. They have since moved to Clayton, NC, as well as have an office in Charlotte, NC. In 2008, construction was completed on the Highway 70 Clayton Bypass, the 10 mile stretch from Interstate 40 along the southern portion of Clayton to highway 70 business in Smithfield. The construction took only about two years and saves an enormous amount of driving time due to the significant number of traffic lights on Highway 70. This is great for our company to be able to serve the Clayton and Garner areas for installation. The new Bypass has cut down on our time to be able to get to your neighborhood. Privacy fences are the most popular fences for this area. A six foot privacy fence is key to keeping your pets and children contained and we offer incredible prices on all styles.
The information on this page was researched through the town of Wendell's website, the town of Knightdale's website, and the town of Zebulon's website. Wendell and Zebulon were great areas to expand our company's coverage to. Wilson is about a half hour east of Zebulon. Goldsboro is about a half hour south of Wilson.
Holly Springs History & Rules/ Building Code
According to Holly Springs website, the name Holly Springs comes from the spring water that runs past, 50 foot hight, decades-old holly trees that have withstood storms and droughts, wars and depressions.
The small community included a church, one of the first four to join the Raleigh Baptist Association in the first few years after 1800. According to history, the church disbanded when “several members became unfaithful." Former members started another Baptist church several miles away at a crossroad. One road went from Hillsborough to Smithfield and the other from Raleigh to Fayetteville. These crossroads eventually became what is currently downtown Holly Springs. Our Raleigh fence company has been serving the Holly Springs area for almost 10 years now.
In 2007, CNN/Money magazine ranked Holly Springs, NC twentieth on its list of top small towns to live in. Apex made the list as number fourteen. Forbes magazine ranked it in the 100 suburbs across the United States that posted the highest growth rates between 2000 and 2006. Holly Springs came in at No. 18.
Holly Springs Regulations
Height: No fence shall be taller than 6' in any side or backyard or 4’ in any front yard. The the Department of Planning & Zoning has more information on getting variances to build ones with taller requirements.
Setbacks: Although the Town of Holly Springs does not have a setback requirement for them, it is recommended to place the fence a few inches inside your property line so that you do not infringe on your neighbor’s property. Fences and walls placed on corner lots have special setback regulations, usually it is a certain number of feet from the road, like ten. However you should check with each city or town for specific information.
Appearance: The "finished" or "good" side of any wood fence is REQUIRED to face outward from the property it is built upon. If the material is chain link and is located in the front yard, it must be black-vinyl coated, which we do not do. You can purchase an affordable and stylish wood picket 4' fence for about the same price.
Easements: Fences or other permanent structures cannot be placed on any utility easement (water, sanitary sewer, drainage, etc.) or greenway easement. Be cautious of underground utilities and easements for electric, gas, phone, cable, etc. Again, contact the Zoning Department as exceptions are made and usually if you can accommodate access to the easement with a double gate or removable section, they may bend this rule.
Check your homeowner’s association for restrictions specifically for your neighborhood.
